The Monuments and Memorials of the Gettysburg Campaign
134th New York Infantry (Position Marker)
Location: Coster Avenue.
Description: The position marker is bronze with a height of 4.5 foot. It was erected circa 1905. Marks the position on July 1, 1863 where the regiment suffered its most severe casualties in the battle. The bronze position marker is located at the far end of Coster Avenue. This is “where it suffered the greatest casualties of any battle in which it was ever engaged.” This bronze position marker on Coster Avenue probably does not accurately fix position held July 1, 1863; is actually located west of site.
