4th Maine Infantry (Rock Carving)

Likely predates the monument that was erected in the fall of 1888 and dedicated in 1889.

Location: Sickles Avenue at Devil’s Den. The carving is on a large boulder located northwest of the monument (close to the parking lot).

Description: Honors the 4th Maine Infantry. Carving consists of a diamond (symbol of the Third Corps) and “4th ME.”
