Location: South Sedgwick Avenue. The monument marks reserve line held by the regiment from the evening of July 2nd until pursuit of Lee’s army on July 5, 1863. The monument was erected by Regimental Association and State of Massachusetts. The regiment was positioned approximately 100 yards behind the monument.
Description: Granite monument with slanted top featuring relief of crossed muskets, non-commissioned officer’s sword, kepi, and VI Corps Greek cross, with two flank markers. Monument is a 4×3 foot granite shaft with a slant face set on a 5×4 foot base. The face has raised letters, sculptured relief of crossed muskets, non-commissioned officer’s sword, kepi and Sixth Corps Greek Cross. Flanking markers have a double slant tops, 1.6×8 foot.
