91st Pennsylvania Infantry (Hazlett-Weed Monument)

Dedicated: 1889.

Location: Little Round Top, just behind the regimental monument.

Description: It was originally dedicated as the first regimental monument in 1883; moved 50 yards east to present location in 1889. Monument is a granite monolith, 1.9 foot square on a 2.10 foot base of Gettysburg granite. Overall height is six foot. Inscription is cut into the west face of the shaft. The granite sphere that once adorned the top has been removed. Placed on rock where Brig Gen Weed fell mortally wounded on July 2, 1863, and Lieutenant Hazlett assisting him fell killed across Weed’s body.
