Black Horse Tavern

The Francis Bream Black Horse Tavern is located on the Fairfield Road (PA 116) about two and a half miles southwest of Gettysburg. This was one of several field hospitals for Pickett’s Division. The stone tavern was built in 1812. Bream was the wealthiest land owner in Adams County. It is a private residence. The original trace of the Fairfield Road is called the Breams Hill Road and is located near here.

On the Adams County field hospital tour, this is Confederate Hospital #12.
