Bliss Farm
The William Bliss Farm was located west of the Emmitsburg Road between Cemetery and Seminary Ridge. William and Adeline Bliss moved to this farm in 1857 from Chautauqua County, New York. They fled the battlefield on July 1. The farm ended up between the Union and Confederate lines and the barn was eventually burned by the 14th Connecticut.
The Bliss’s sold their 60-acre farm to Nicholas Codori and returned to Sinclarville, New York. The farm is on land owned by the NPS.
The 12th New Jersey‘s Monument on Cemetery Ridge features a bronze relief of the fighting which occurred at the Bliss Farm.
