One of five cavalry brigades in Stuart’s Division of the Army of Northern Virginia. (This brigade belonged to W.H.F. Lee who was out with wounds.)

Commander: Col. John R. Chambliss (January 23, 1833 – August 16, 1864). Career soldier, USMA 1853. He was killed at the rank of brigadier general leading a cavalry charge during the Petersburg Campaign, along the Charles City Road.

Losses: 56; 5 killed, 31 wounded, 20 missing.
