One of four infantry brigades in Johnson’s Division of Ewell’s Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia.

Commander: Col. Jesse M. Williams (January 11, 1831 – May 12, 1864). Louisianan; attended the University of Alabama. He was killed in the attack on the Mule Shoe at Spotsylvania Court House in command of his regiment, the 2nd Louisiana Infantry.

Losses: 389; 66 killed, 287 wounded, 36 missing.
