One of three divisions in Ewell’s Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia.

Commander: Maj. Gen. Robert E. Rodes (March 29, 1829 – September 19, 1864). VMI instructor and civil engineer. Although from Virginia, he entered Confederate service from Alabama. He was killed at the battle of Third Winchester.

Strength: 7,873

Losses: 3,092; 598 killed, 1,684 wounded, 810 missing.
