Commander: Lt. Col. John J. Garnett (May 1839-Sept. 10, 1902). Virginian, member of USMA 1861 but left to join the Louisiana Washington Artillery. Relieved from the Army of Northern Virginia by Lee for incompetence and later served with the Army of Tennessee. Post-war author of minor works on Lee, Grant, and the Gettysburg Cyclorama.
