One of two artillery battalions that made up the Artillery Reserve of Longstreet’s Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia.

Commander: Col. Edward P. Alexander (May 26, 1835 – April 28, 1910). Georgian; USMA 1857, active in the signal corps. Finished the war as a brigadier general. Author of two excellent memoirs and post-war professor mathematics at the University of South Carolina.
