First Brigade (Schimmelfenning)
One of two brigades of Schurz’s Division of the Eleventh Corps.
Commander: Brig. Gen. Alexander Schimmelfennig (July 20, 1824 – September 5, 1865). German revolutionary. Separated from his unit but avoided capture at Gettysburg. He contracted tuberculosis while in command of Charleston, South Carolina and died shortly after the War ended.

Losses: 807; 58 killed, 296 wounded, 453 missing.
