One of two brigades in Wadsworth’s Division of the First Corps.

Commander: Brig. Gen. Solomon Meredith (May 29, 1810 – October 2, 1875). Born in North Carolina; prominent farmer in Indiana. Probably the tallest Civil War general at Gettysburg as he was 6’7.” He was wounded on July 1 by a shell which killed his horse and suffered a concussion which knocked him out of the War. Returned to farming after the War.
