One of three brigades in Humphreys’s Division of the Third Corps. Also known as the Excelsior Brigade.

Commander: Col. William R. Brewster (July 27, 1828 – December 13, 1869). From Connecticut, later moved to Brooklyn. Active in veteran affairs after the War.

Strength: 1,837

Losses: 778; 132 killed, 573 wounded, 73 missing.
