Far Northern Advance ANV Monument
Dedicated: 1929.
Location: In the front yard of a private residence on Springs Road in Carlisle, near Sterrett’s Gap.
Description: This stone monument with a bronze plaque denotes the furthest northern penetration by General R.E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia on June 28, 1863. A small skirmish occurred near here between militia forces and Confederate General Albert Jenkins’ cavalry brigade.
