The Monuments and Memorials of the Gettysburg Campaign
Kentucky State Monument
Dedicated: Nov. 1975.
Location: Soldiers’ National Cemetery, east of the Soldiers National Monument.
Description: Rectangular marker with sloping front bears three tablets with a facsimile of the Bliss/Bancroft copy of the Gettysburg Address. A State Seal relief appears on the lower front face below the center tablet. Kentucky had no regiments or batteries present on either side at Gettysburg; the monument apparently is to honor Lincoln, who was born there, but better associated with Illinois.
