Lightner Farm (Nathaniel Lightner)
The Nathaniel Lightner farm was located on the west side of the Baltimore Pike, about a thousand yards southeast of present day Hunt Avenue. The stone house is all that remains of the original farm. Lightner was a carpenter and farmer.
This farm was the site of hospitals of the Sixth and Twelfth Corps, specifically Shaler’s Brigade and McDougall’s Brigade; some soldiers of the First and Eleventh Corps were also treated here.
