Louisiana Guard Battery (Green’s) – East Cavalry Field

Location: East Cavalry Battlefield, east of Rummel Woods.

Description: Cast iron tablet, 3’8? x 3’4″, with raised inscription painted in a contrasting color and mounted on fluted cast iron post. All 4’4?” H. Tablets casts by Calvin Gilbert. The inscription on the 3.8? x 3.4″ tablet narrates the events associated with Battery during the Battle.

July 3. After taking part in the fighting on the previous two days at Gettysburg and Hunterstown this Battery being detached from its Battalion brought its Parrott guns here and rendered important service in the cavalry battle not withdrawing until after dark.

Losses Killed 2 Wounded 5 Total 7 Horses disabled 2.
