Description: Granite marker has rough cut sides and rear with a polished face that contains an inscription. Rests on a boulder.
About Major Joshua G. Palmer
Major Palmer was born on January 3, 1829 in New York. He moved to Urbana, Ohio where he was a dentist. On October 1, 1861, he was commissioned into Co. B, 66th Ohio Infantry and was promoted to Captain. He was shot through the left lung during the fighting on Culp’s Hill on July 3. He died in the XII Corps hospital on July 10, 1863. He is buried in Parma Corners, Monroe County, New York. The legend around the medallion on his tombstone reads: “They never fail who die in a great cause.”
