McLean Farm

The owner of this prominent farm on the first day battlefield, Moses McLean, was a Gettysburg attorney who had served in the U.S. Congress from 1843 until 1845. During the battle, the farm was being leased to David H. Beams, who lived here with his wife Harriet and their children. They were forced to flee when O’Neal’s brigade swept over and past the farm on its way to attack the Union I Corps.

The McLean Farm is on the north side of Mummasburg Road, east of Oak Ridge. It was one of the area’s larger farms, spanning 162-acres. Beautiful views of the farm are available as one leaves the Eternal Peace Light Monument along the park’s tour route.
