Spangler Farm (Abraham / Henry Spangler)
Owned by Abraham Spangler, this farm on the Baltimore Pike was occupied during the battle by Abraham’s son Henry and his wife Sarah. The Second Division of the Twelfth Corps had its hospital on the property; this was a major hospital, and at least 83 soldiers, mostly Union, were buried on the land.
The original house on the property dated to 1744. The current house on the property was built circa 1820. Henry and Sarah Spangler are buried in Gettysburg’s Evergreen Cemetery.
