Wainwright Avenue

Erected: 1896.

Location: Located at northeast corner of intersection of Slocum Avenue and Wainwright Avenue. Wainwright Avenue is within area of July 3, 1863 fighting at base of E. Cemetery Hill. Follows general route of late 1700s road and brickyard lane. The original road was built in 1701 as the Shippensburg Turnpike. Begins at Slocum Avenue and ends at Park Boundary.

Description: Cast iron avenue tablet designed by E.B. Cope. Mounted on fluted post, overall height is three feet.
