Wentz House

Located on the Emmitsburg Road at the intersection with the Wheatfield Road, the 15-acre Wentz farm was home to John and Mary Wentz. Their son, Henry, was a carriage maker, who had relocated to Virginia and served in a Confederate artillery battery posted nearby. The house was a one-and-a-half story log cabin across from the Sherfy Peach Orchard.

A house was built in the late 19th century on top of the old log cabin. This newer house was deconstructed by the National Park Service in 1960 and the property remains vacant today. Today, only a foundation remains to mark the site of the John Wentz farm.
